Here at Cadence Brave we’re going crazy for the off-the-shoulder trend because baring your neckline and shoulders is the perfect mix between sexy and conservative. Not only does it look amazing on but it’s a perfect winter to spring transition, all you need is the perfect off the shoulder top and a banging outfit to style it with.
Seeing as it’s winter long sleeve is the way to go and you can still get away with it in spring just by pairing it with shorter bottoms. There are two particular styles that we’re loving most right now, cropped and free flowing and I’m going to give you plenty of tips on how to style both.
Cropped long sleeve
Styling this is going to be best for your nights out but like all pieces there’s always ways to dress it down for daytime. If you’re going out whether it be clubbing, drinks or dinner pair this style with something high-wasted, never show your belly button it’s tacky. For something a little dressier go for a midi-skirt in a cute pattern to suit a block colour crop. If you’re still going out for the night but want something a little more toned down a high waisted denim skirt is always cute, this can even work for a day time look just throw on some casual sneakers and add a plaid shirt around your waist. For something more chic go for a maxi skirt in a cool colour like dusty pink or light print.
If skirts aren’t your thing high waisted jeans are just as appealing and you can still stick to the shirt around waist look here too.
This style is a little more bohemian inspired but is extremely versatile so they’ll always be a way to work it into your wardrobe. Go for a long sleeve style once again that draws together at your wrists. Seeing as this style isn’t cropped going for a skirt shorter than a midi would be your best option. It will keep you in proportion and avoid you looking long and plank-like. If you’re wanting to go for pants, black leather-look, leather or wet-look jeans are perfect and ensure you pair them with ankle boots or my favorite shoe trend right now; lace up heels.
For something a little more casual go for baggy chambray pants, keep them cuffed twice and pair with slides. If it’s nice weather outside denim cut-offs will be everything with this top, add a chunky belt and do messy tuck in.
When adding jewellery to these styles you don’t want to go for anything that takes away from the off-shoulder feature. Chokers and short necklaces will work best with the cropped and free flowing styles. You can wear a simple long chain but only with a free flowing style, never with a crop. If you do not want to add a necklace then that’s perfectly fine let your earrings do the work and go for statement pairs like chunky hoops or long pop coloured styles.
My favourite thing to wear with off the shoulder tops are large brim felt hats, they add to that boho-care-free vibe and look like they were made to be worn together. If a large brim is too large for you, any form a felt hat works well, just pick a style that most suits you and your wardrobe.
